In the exposed collection of rocks, visitors can see all three main types of rocks that make up the Earth’s crust: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. From the group of igneous rocks, the following are exposed: granite, syenite, diorite, gabbro, andesite, melaphyre, trachyte, etc. Sedimentary rocks are represented by mechanical sediments (breccias, sandstones, conglomerates), chemical sediments (dolomite, limestone, chert) and sediments of organic origin (coral, foraminifera). Metamorphic rocks are represented by specimens of quartzite, slate, marble and gneiss. The part of the exhibition related to the igneous rocks of Bosnia and Herzegovina is completed with a model of a volcano with lava.<\/p>\n
Bosnia and Herzegovina is rich in various mineral resources. The distribution, abundance and deposits of different types of ores are clearly shown on a large wall map with special markings. The most common metal ores are iron, manganese, copper, chromium, lead, zinc, mercury, antimony, arsenic and aluminum. We find them widely distributed throughout the country: the exhibits come from Vare\u0161, Ljubija, Radovan-planina, Tovarnica near Jablanica, Srebrenica, the vicinity of Jajce and others. Among the non-metallic ores, the following stand out: asbestos, barite, magnesite, gypsum, rock salt, clay, etc. The exhibited specimens of non-metallic ores also come from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bosansko Petrovo Selo, Arapu\u0161a, Halilovac near Bosanska Krupa, Elezovi\u0107 near Donji Vakuf and others. Coal is one of the most important raw materials in Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 100 deposits of lignite, brown and hard coal have been explored in the country. Today, the largest production of brown coal is realized in the Banovi\u0107i mine and in the central Bosnian mines of Breza, Kakanj, Zenica and Bila.
