Central Bosnia is known as a location where pottery was made on a potter's wheel – the oldest technology for making ceramic objects. Without a doubt, Vi\u0161njici ceramics, also known as white ceramics, are the most famous, and are considered the most beautiful pottery in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were made in the village of Vi\u0161njici, near Kiseljak, out of so-called white clay, which retained its light colour even after firing.<\/p>\n
The clay used to make Vi\u0161njici pottery was not suitable for vessels intended for cooking or baking, so it was used to make vessels intended for storing or transporting water or for decorative use. As a rule, Vi\u0161njici pottery was richly ornamented with geometric patterns. Another peculiarity of this pottery was that its shapes and forms imitated oriental copper receptacles. <\/p>\n
Oval in shape, the spouted ewer has a short, slightly bent handle on the shoulder. Above the spout is a small domed cap with a round opening on the side. The shoulder is ornamented with six parallel lines with triangles below.
