On September 19, 2024, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened a VR showroom on the topic of SheLeaders, which is the result of a long-term regional project of the same name.<\/p>\n
The project SHELeadersVR is financed by the European Commission from Creative Europe grant no. 101055818. VR (virtual reality) and AR applications (augmented reality) were created as part of the project, which will present Bosnian Queen Jelena Gruba, Serbian Princess Milica Hrebeljanovi\u0107, Macedonian Queen Marija Paleologos, Albanian Queen Vojsava Tribalda and Montenegrin Queen Izabeta Crnojevi\u0107 to visitors of the partner museums. Female rulers can be found in virtual reconstructions of the castles where they lived and narrate significant events from their reign. In this educational VR computer game, users have the opportunity to virtually walk through these objects and find digitized museum exhibits.<\/p>\n
In the first year (2022) of the project, 360 videos were recorded from selected locations and scenarios for digital stories were created. The second year (2023) was devoted to the production of VR and AR applications, and in the third year (2024) the evaluation of the user experience and installation of the application in partner museums is carried out.<\/p>\n
The AR application works on mobile devices at the locations of digitally reconstructed cultural monuments (Bobovac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Don\u017eon tower at the Kru\u0161evac fortress in Serbia, the royal palace at the Skopje fortress in Macedonia, the early Christian basilica in Kruja in Albania and the old \u0106ipur monastery on Cetinje in Montenegro ). Through their mobile phones or tablets, visitors can see the queens and behind them the original appearance of the remains of historical buildings through the image from the camera.<\/p>\n
The project consortium consists of the Association DIGI.BA from Bosnia and Herzegovina as the coordinator, NoHo from Ireland, the Archaeological Institute of Belgrade, the National Museum of Montenegro and the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, and the team includes experts from the computer graphics laboratory Sarajevo Graphics Group from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo, and local coordinators from Albania and Macedonia.<\/p>\n
The VR showroom will be available to the public at certain times with prior notice, which we will inform the public about in the coming period.<\/p>\n
