Thank You Note from the Staff of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The staff of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina hereby extends its public gratitude to Dr. Mirsad Sijarić, who recently resigned from his position as Director of this institution after many years of dedicated and exceptionally successful leadership, often carried out under challenging circumstances.

Dr. Sijarić served as Director of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina for nearly ten years, during which his work, knowledge, and vision made an immeasurable contribution to strengthening the reputation and stability of the oldest museum and scientific institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His tenure was marked by numerous development activities that resulted in the reopening of the Museum to the public after a period of institutional crisis, the improvement of professional and scientific standards, the increased visibility and recognition of the Museum both locally and internationally, and the restoration of public and international trust in this state-level cultural institution.

Under his leadership, the Museum achieved significant results in the fields of research, preservation, and presentation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural and natural heritage. Numerous projects in the areas of museology, conservation, archaeology, ethnology, and natural sciences were successfully implemented, with the support of local and international partners.
Dr. Sijarić devoted particular attention to strengthening professional staff, modernizing the Museum’s infrastructure, and improving working conditions—laying the foundation for the institution’s modern and sustainable development.

We are extremely pleased that Dr. Mirsad Sijarić will remain part of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s team, returning to his original position as an archaeologist specializing in the Late Middle Ages, where he will continue to contribute to scientific research and the development of museum work through his extensive experience, knowledge, and expertise.

On behalf of all Museum employees and collaborators, we express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sijarić for his many years of effort, professionalism, and dedication, and we wish him great success in his future professional and personal endeavors.

The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to act in accordance with its mission of preserving, researching, and promoting the rich cultural and natural heritage of our country—a mission established as far back as 1888.
