Azra Bečević-Šarenkapa (b. 1975, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a textile conservator and museum advisor specializing in the preservation of textile artifacts. She completed her primary and secondary education in Sarajevo. She holds a Master’s degree in Textile Technology and Engineering from the Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb, Croatia, and completed postgraduate studies in Conservation of Historical Objects at the Department of Archaeology, University of Durham, United Kingdom, in 2002.
Employed at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1998, Bečević-Šarenkapa currently serves as Conservator for Textiles with the professional title of Museum Advisor. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including the conservation of textile artifacts, organization and reorganization of museum storage facilities, and monitoring of microclimatic conditions in exhibition and storage spaces.
She has participated in more than ten permanent and over forty temporary exhibitions, reflecting her long-standing commitment to the preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bečević-Šarenkapa actively contributes to educational programs and professional conferences on conservation and museum object protection at both national and international levels. She has collaborated on international projects related to the safeguarding of museum collections and is the author of several papers on conservation, preservation, and the promotion of cultural heritage.
She is a member of the Board of the Balkan Museum Network and ICOM SEE. From 2016 to 2023, she served as President of the Association of Information Professionals – Librarians, Archivists, and Museologists. In October 2025, she was appointed Deputy Director of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
