Beryl

A very rare and valuable mineral, beryl can be coloured or colourless. There are several varieties: red beryl is known as bixbite or red emerald, blue beryl as aquamarine, pink as vorobyevite (later renamed morganite), white or colourless as goshenite, yellow-green as heliodor (it has traces of iron in the channels). Golden beryl is bright yellow.

It is a fine-looking mineral, used for jewellery and as a source of beryllium. In terms of chemical composition, beryl is a beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate.
