Bosnian sandwort – Minuartia bosniaca (G. Beck) K. Malý
This perennial plant with a large number of small white flowers is quite eye-catching in every ecosystem it inhabits. It is 15 cm–30 cm tall, and blossoms from May through June.
A proper heliophyte, it needs a lot of sunlight, and is found in dry rocky grounds, rocky pastures, and canyons, mostly in the sub-Alpine region. Endemic to the Dinarids (Dinaric Alps), it is distributed in Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Because of its limited area of distribution, in Bosnia and Herzegovina it has the status of a rare or potentially endangered species.
