Iris reichenbachii Heuffel var. bosniaca G. Beck
This is a perennial plant from the iris family (Iridaceae). The leaves are straight or slightly bent. The flower is large, yellow, and faintly scented. The fruit is a capsule with three carpels, full of round, light brown seeds. The plant flowers in May and June.
This plant is found in dry meadows, pastures, and mountain lawns. Because of its exceedingly beautiful flowers, it has long been used in horticulture. As a result, it is very much endangered in its natural habitats. On the summit of Mt Trebević, where this species was first discovered and described by the famous Austrian botanist Günther Beck, it is now almost eradicated. Therefore, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Red List classifies it as very vulnerable or endangered.
