Section:

This is an article of Croat woman’s clothing characteristic of the whole region of Bosanska Posavina.

The apron was woven from local wool, in a pattern of black, white, green, orange, yellow, blue, and red vertical stripes. The apron is trimmed all around with red lace that was made from wool using a crochet hook. Red felt is sewn on along the bottom, and above that there is geometric embroidery made of wool in the colours of the apron itself. Long woollen fringe borders the entire length of the outer hem.

The apron is worn in front over a shirt and is fastened with multicoloured woollen twines. Older women wore shorter and tighter-fitting aprons, while young women wore longer and looser aprons. The bottom right corner was pinned to the waistband, so that the bottom left corner moved to the middle, giving the apron a triangular shape.
