The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina Celebrates 130th Anniversary
With great pleasure we invite all those who like and support the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those who have never been in the Museum, to join us on 1 February 2018 for the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the existence and activity of this important institution. Ever since the Museum was established as an independent state institution by the decision of the then State Government, and officially opened on 1 February 1888, it has been developing as most important modern institution of culture, science and education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although faced with great challenges over the recent years, resulting from sad political reality of today BiH, employees of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina are determined to keep and improve the tradition inherited over 130 years.
Last year numerous projects were realized with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport, Federal Ministry of culture and science, and Cantonal Ministry of Culture and Sport. Numerous municipalities, cantons, and cities financially supported activities of our institution through the Memorandum of Understanding, and reliable partners we still have in the UNESCO, embassies of the USA, France, Italy, Turkey, Austria and other. With pleasure we point that many companies, e.g. Wienerberger AG, BH Lottery, Union Bank d.o.o., DHL International, Deling Tuzla, Gazprom petrol stations in BH, Unilab d.o.o., Neimari d.o.o., DSC and other, have recognized importance of the role that the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina performs. We hope that other business companies will follow their example.
Many activities and programmes were conducted in cooperation with our partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. Among them are the Fund for Environmental Conservation of the Federation BH, Federal Institute for Protection of Monuments, Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Sarajevo University, Civitas BH, CHwB BH, Sarajevo University, Archaeology Museum Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy Zagreb University, Commission to Protect National Monuments in BH, Goethe Institute Sarajevo,
Yunus Emre Enstitüsü
, but also many citizens who, donating objects or modest financial means, helped the Museum not to be erased from the cultural and scientific scene.
