Exhibition "The International James Joyce"

The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition on the writer James Joyce, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, and who was influenced by writers and cities across Europe.

This exhibition titled “The International James Joyce” is being brought to you in cooperation with the Embassy of Ireland. The exhibition explores the factors and places that influenced the works of James Joyce, including Ulysses that tells the story of one day in the life of Dublin over a century ago. Other writing by Joyce includes A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man.

The exhibition will open on Friday, 6 September, at the Museum following a talk titled “James Joyce, Ireland, and the art of heroism” that will be given by Dr James Alexander Fraser, who is an Assistant Professor in Literature at the University of Maynooth, Ireland. He has published widely on the works of James Joyce, including his books Joyce and Betrayal (2016) and Joyce's Non-Fiction Writings (2018), both published by Palgrave Macmillan. He is currently researching the role of the bicycle in literature and culture from the late nineteenth century to the present.

"The International James Joyce" will be open to the public at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, from 7 September up to 6 October during the usual opening hours of the Museum (Tue-Fri 10 AM-7 PM, Sat and Sun 10 AM-14 PM).
