Centre for conservation and restoration opened in the National Museum of BH

Centre for conservation and restoration, first of the kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been opened in the National Museum of BH.

The opening ceremony started with a performance of the “Sbandieratori di Gubbio”, standard-bearers from the Republic of Italy, followed by presentation of the conservation and restoration laboratory to the guests and media. The laboratory has the state-of- the-art equipment obtained with the financial support from the Republic of Italy.

On this occasion the ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Mr Ruggero Corria, minister of BH Civil Affairs, Mr Adil Osmanović, and director of the National Museum of BH, Mr Mirsad Sijarić, addressed the invitees.

Opening of the Centre was accompanied with a new exhibition of the objects from the Museum’s collections, “Reliving the Past: Tradition and Perspective”, realised in cooperation with the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro in Rome. The exhibition was also attended by Ms Maureen Cormack, the ambassador of the USA to BH.

The officials from the Republic of Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina pointed out in their addresses that this is a beginning of cooperation between the two countries on conservation and promotion of cultural heritage, the significance of which goes beyond a state borders, since it is the heritage very important for the whole world.
