The Herald of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the oldest scientific journal in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first issue (volume for the quarter January - March 1889) was published on April 5, 1889, almost immediately after the establishment of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. For 135 years, the results of the study of the rich cultural-historical and natural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, converted into the written word, find their place on the pages of the Herald of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the Second World War, from 1945, its "new series" began to be published, when special volumes were published for certain scientific fields: Natural Sciences (1945 to the present), Social Sciences (1946–1953), History and Ethnography (1954–1957), Archaeology (1954 to the present) and Ethnology (1958 to the present).

Since 2011, the volume for Archaeology has been published bilingually in BHS (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) and English. The new, 55th volume on archaeology includes eight contributions and one In memoriam on 276 pages, and the authors are researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, the USA, Germany and Poland.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the promotion of the Herald of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Volume for Archeology, which will be held on the 136th birthday of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, starting at noon, in the Library of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reading room.
