Continuation of cooperation between the Louvre Museum and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Over the past few years, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been cooperating with the French Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which resulted in the implementation of several projects through which the work of the Museum was improved.
One such project was launched with colleagues from the Louvre Museum in Paris during 2017, which primarily concerned the process of inventory, revision and preventive protection of ZMBiH collections. After several workshops and visits that took place between the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Louvre Museum in Paris, the collective of the Museum has produced long-term plans of its work relating to the check-ups of museum exhibits and the digitization of the entire collection.
Following these plans, which were made during the last year, the employees of the National Museum have continued to work on checking and preserving their collections, which will continue in the coming years. Colleague Sophie Marmois from the Louvre Museum spent the past week at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina where she was further introduced to the methodology of work and the difficulties encountered during the process. Experiences and advice that the collective of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina had an opportunity to exchange with Sophie Marmois will be of great significance for further work but also it will enhance the cooperation of the Louvre Museum and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This cooperation has been successful and will continue with the help of the French Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Louvre Museum in Paris and UNESCO.
