Restauration of the interior and wall paintings in the National museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Within the project “Preventive conservation of collections of the National Museum of BiH in Sarajevo” the reconstruction of the interior of the National Museum’s of Bosnia and Herzegovina Department of Prehistory has started. This space, as well as the permanent exhibition "Bosnia and Herzegovina in the prehistoric time", has been closed for the public since 1992. The special value of this pavilion is its wall paintings, which were in a poor condition for years and restoration work was necessary. After completion of restoration and installation of appropriate preventive conservation tools, the Department of Prehistory, as well as the permanent exhibition, will be reopened to the public.
Works are being carried out as part of the project "Preventive Conservation of Collections of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo" for which the funds have been provided through the US Embassy to BiH Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (#AFCP).
The contractor is the company "Koto" d.o.o. Beograd / Banja Luka, while supervision is carried out by the Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the FBiH Ministry of Culture and Sport.
