Second Year of the Italian Conservation and Restauration Courses at The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
For the second year the Italian Superior Institute for Conservation and Restoration of Rome (ISCR) has carried out a conservation and restoration course at the National Museum of Bosnia Herzegovina in Sarajevo, financed by the Italian Minister for Foreign Affaires and International Cooperation.
The 2017 ISCR course has been dedicated to an updating training focused on the conservation and restoration of both archaeological and ethnographical collection of wooden materials, a field that includes important masterpieces of the BiH Museum such as a „Logboat“, a pre-historical boat dated Iron Age.
The course has included the donation of equipments and advanced restoration products to ensure the follow up of the activities delivered within the Conservation Department of the BiH Museum.
The 5 conservators of the BiH Museum have had the opportunity to be trained for the second year by Italian experts and teachers at the ISCR University Courses in Rome, starting last year with the „Metal Conservation Course“ and keeping on this year with the „Conservation Course on Wooden Archaeological and Ethnographical Collections“.
The collaboration between ISCR and BiH Museum will continue next year with a third training dealing with conservation of ceramic collections, which will complete the activity concerning the Archaeological collection at the BiH Museum in Sarajevo, carried out thanks to the Italian financing.
