Ilyrian bronze helmet
Section:
- Archaeology›Prehistory
Bronze helmets, as high-value prestige items, belonged to individuals whose social standing was reflected in their weapons and gear as symbols of their status and power as warriors.
This bronze helmet is part of the inventory of one of the richest warrior graves from the necropolis in Donja Dolina, from the Early Iron Age period. It is a protective combat item, and shows characteristics of the older IIA type of Illyrian helmets. It was imported from the southern Balkans, most likely from a Macedonian workshop.
